The challenge today is to live a life that reflects our faith. A life driven by faith courageously takes right action according to the convictions of that faith. It takes good work in order to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength”, and to “Love your neighbor as yourself”. This doesn’t mean you always have to be center stage showcasing all of your gifts at once in a flurry of service. As the NLT and NIV put it, faith and actions work together. The actions made Abraham’s faith complete. We know Abraham believed God because he actually took his son Isaac to the altar when God told him to. He heard the Lord, and responded with obedient action. Walking in obedience in response to God’s leading is the platform for the gospel to go forth from our lives. Jesus calls to us all today and says, “Follow me”.
